Ross Castle Killarney, Ireland was built in the 15th Century by the O'Donoghue chieftains.
In 1652 it was one of the last stronghold in this region to surrender to Cromwell's forces.
It overlooks the Lower Lake in Killarney and also looks out on the 7th century monastery and a 12th century oratory on Innisfallen Island. Legend has it that Brian Boru, High King of Ireland was educated here by the Monks in the 9th Century.
Boats can be hired here and there is also a Glass covered boat sailing every Hour.
