I always suggest to guests that this Peninsula - should be driven in the figure of 8. For me, I think that its the most beautiful of the 3 Peninsulas and in mileage the longest.
If you are thinking of driving the Beara Peninsula, on returning, you should consider stopping in Kenmare Town for dinner.
From Killarney take the N71 to Kenmare and the Tunnel Road N71 to Glengarriff. From Glengarriff (Garnish Island) to Adrigole R572 and the Healy Pass R574 to Lauragh. From Lauragh take the R571 passing through Ardgroom, Eyeries, Allihies, Ballydonegan and look out for the Cable Car signposting to Dursey Island.
Take the trip to the Island - a tip - at the Cable Car, an animal has the right of way to cross first.
Returning to the Fishing Port of Castletownbere R572 and Adrigole. Once again over the Healy Pass R574 to Lauragh and onwards to Kenmare.
From Kenmare return to Killarney using Molls Gap - Ladies View and The National Park.
